Indian Police Service Joined I.P.S. in 1972. Took voluntary retirement in May, 2001
Vice-Chancellor Remained Vice-Chancellor of K.S.D. Sanskrit University, Darbhanga, Bihar from August 2001 to February, 2004 when he voluntarily relinquished the post
Chairman, Bihar State Board of Religious Trusts He joined as Administrator of Board on May 23, 2006, and became its Chairman in 2010. He had ushered in several changes in the functioning of the Board and streamlined functioning of trusts affiliated to it. He resigned from this post on 10th March, 2016
Philanthropic work Through famous Mahavir (Hanuman) temple of Patna he has established many charitable hospitals such as Mahavir Cancer Sansthan, Mahavir Arogya Sansthan, Mahavir Netralaya, Mahavir Vaatsalya Aspatal and undertaken massive philanthropic work in various forms
Upliftment of dalits (a) Appointed a dalit priest in Patna Hanuman temple on 13th June, 1993

(b) As an Administrator of Bihar Religious Trust Board he has appointed dalit priests in many prominent temples at Bihta, Paliganj, Bodh Gaya, Hajipur, Muzaffarpur, Begusarai and other places

(c) He has invariably appointed dalit trustees in all temples of Bihar and associated them with management of temple affairs in a big way

(d) Through the programmes of Sangat (community prayers) and Pangat(community dining), he has brought renaissance in rural areas of Bihar
Communal harmony Although he was associated with the delicate task of negotiation between Hindu and Muslim religious leaders on a very contentious issue of Ayodhya, he kept very cordial relations with both groups. Subsquently he raised the banner of communal harmony from various religious platforms. He commands very high respect from all sections of society
Awards (i) In 2009 he was conferred the title of `Bihar-Ratna' by Jagran Group of newspapers

(ii) In 2008 he was conferred 11th Mahaveer Award by H.E. President of India for excellence in human endeavour in the field of Community & Social Service sponsored by Bhagawan Mahaveer Foundation, Chennai. The award carries a citation and Rs. 5 lakhs

(iii) In 2006 he was awarded Gold Medal for Social Service by Samaj Kalyan Samiti, Bihar, Patna

(iv) In 1997 he was honoured at Shringeri Math, Varanasi by former Kashi Naresh Dr. Vibhuti Narayan Singh for his service in propagation of Sanskrit

(v) In 1996 he was conferred second Vivekanand Memorial Award for his social & community services
Authorship Author of many books. "Dalit Devo Bhav", being the magnum opus, has been published in 2 volumes by Publications Division, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India. He has also written the book Ayodhya Revisited
Courses Attended many courses including 'Crisis Management Course' in U.S.A. in December,1995 and Top Management Course in the Administrative Staff College of India, Hyderabad, while in I.P.S.
Discourses Delivered discourses on many topics of Indian History, Philosophy, Sanskrit Literature and Scriptures in India and also in U.S.A. A great authority on Valmiki Ramayana
